The Corona Chronicles - Sharing values!

One of the perks of volunteering is making valuable new acquaintances and it was a real pleasure meeting up with Minister Lloyd and Mark today at Barking Elim Church.

One thing I’m discovering on this journey is just how many diverse strands of a community actually share the same beliefs and values when it comes to serving and looking out for each other’s interests and needs.

The Barking Elim Church is a community who out of their faith choose to love and serve those around them.

Yes, there you go, exactly the same as most of us if you swap ‘faith’ with ‘conviction’ or ‘values’ - commonality.

There are a number of families living there and almost daily there’s food served for homeless friends until the cupboards run dry.

Ismail has been steadfastly supporting the Hedgecock Community Centre and One Third Soup Kitchen and today visitors will get to sample delicious, hot Biriani from Royal Catering & Events and food packs from the Hedgecock Community Centre Foodbank.

During this season of uncertainty due to the dark shadow of the Coronavirus we wish to let it be known that no one needs to be alone and we will stand by anyone and everyone, regardless of who they are and where they’re from.

We are a united community - We look after our own.

Thanks for the great welcome. I will join you both for tea after lockdown is lifted and Ramadan ends.

Stay safe until then!
