Pensioner stabbed to death

Emdad Rahman

The Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 69-year old Bangladeshi woman in Tower Hamlets.

Police were called shortly before ten pm on Wednesday to reports of a woman possibly assaulted at an address in Lister House, Vallance Road, E1.

Officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the woman is known, but the Police are awaiting formal identification by next of kin.

A post-mortem examination was also held at Poplar Mortuary yesterday. The Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating, and a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene. He is currently in custody at an east London police station under suspicion of murder.

Speaking exclusively to London Bangla, Ahmed, a resident of Lister house said; “We all knew the woman, and everybody is of a strong opinion that the old lady’s killer was her own unruly son.”
