Beyond Fontana

Curated by Stephanie Moran

CHARLOTTE BRACEGIRDLE AND STEPHANIE MORAN, CULLINAN RICHARDS, LOUISA DUROSE, JULIE FAGAN, MAISIE KENDALL, KRISTEN LOVELOCK, BRIGID MCLEER, LAURA MORRISON, NICOLA WILLIAMS, HANNAH WOOLL

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12noon - 6pm, or by appointment.

Cut, Slash, Slit; Hole, Puncture, Piercing, Perforation; Penetration, Wound, Construction.

I was fortunate to be the first visitor to this exhibition.

studio1.1 is delighted to hand itself over to Stephanie Moran as curator of this year’s Xmas extravaganza. Twelve artists offer ten different versions on the Fontana-theme: how art can breach its physical boundaries, suggest more by doing less; add by taking away. Not by slashing the canvas, obviously. Then how?

In Moran's words:

'This exhibition will expand on Fontana's 'Spatial Concepts', examining implications intended and unintended. Or, more accurately, it will exhibit this group of artists in the context of Fontana. Obviously, liberties will be taken.

A sort of aesthetic equivalent to a post-punk band, complete with zine publication to accompany the exhibition (including an article about the artists).'
