More than 25,000 supporters and millions of worldwide armchair fans watched as a massacre took place at Mohamed Al Fayed's Fulham.

Leading the lynching was a Uruguayan who has only been on these golden shores for less than six months. In the absence of the giant Andy Carroll, Messrs Dalglish, Clark and Lee let loose Liverpool's assassin in chief – a man with a resounding knack of terrorising defences. It was the finest individual performance by a Liverpool player since Steven Gerrard against Napoli at Anfield last November. I watched from the centenary as the skipper destroyed Napoli, wondering how long before a performance of such magnitude would be matched.

Although a low key end of season game, Suarez did not disappoint – his tenacious streak, power and boldness embodying Liverpool's new found spirit and drive.

It is precisely this hot streak that has the Kop licking lips in anticipation at the prospect of the ferocious Suarez linking up with the superhero - the swashbuckling, battling Andy Carroll – a partnership that when fully match fit will unleash carnage upon Premier League defences.

The annihilation of Fulham led to the revelation of the worst kept secret in world football as Kenny Dalglish was at last given a three year deal to once again turn Liverpool into one of the world's great footballing superpowers.

The response from fans was unanimous with even an Evertonian telling me that Dalglish was the absolute candidate to lead Liverpool back amongst the elite. Dalglish's appointment will be welcomed by football lovers.

His rivals will realise that the time has come to up their game, and Sir Alex will again relish in engaging in a round of horn locking with his counterpart from down the M62. Kenny Dalglish is perfect for Liverpool, and Reds can expect to see positive innovations and mouth-watering football moving the club forward next season.
