Betar Bangla Radio

I spent a pleasant afternoon at Betar Bangla Radio with Zoinul Abidin. It was my radio debut and I had to overcome slight nerves at the beginning.

We chatted about football, community work, my volunteering with the homeless at Whitechapel Mission amongst other things. The hour slot flew by before we knew it.

Betar Bangla is a Community Radio, established in 2000, which serves the Bangladeshi and wider communities in East London. Eighty-five volunteers and presenters currently facilitate our radio station.

A recent survey shows some 100,000 London-based listeners engage with the radio programmes.
