Community bids farewell to Shahidul Hassan

Emdad Rahman: The community said a final farewell to St Paul's Way Trust School pupil Shahidul Hassan who drowned after accidentally falling into the local Canal last week. Those around him tried very hard to rescue him however they were unable to do so.

Grahame Price the head teacher of St Paul's Way trust School visited the bereaved family and passed on the heartfelt condolences of everyone within the school community.

In a letter to parents he wrote: "Shahidul was a dedicated , hardworking and respectful young man. He was very popular with all of his peers and all of the staff at St Paul's Way Trust School.

" Our thoughts and our prayers are with his family at this most difficult of times."

Mr Price hired four coaches to escort pupils and well wishers to offer prayers and their respects to Shahidul at the East London Mosque.

Imaani Begum, a parent olat the school added: "Shahidul's death is a tragic loss for us all. His demise has bought the whole community together as one. We are all praying that his family find peace in their hearts.

"We are all touched by Mr Price's gesture. He hired coaches for students to visit the Mosque and partake in prayers and pay their last respects to Shahidul. This is an example of how our communities can leave aside our differences and become united as one."

After the Janazah prayers for the deceased at the East London Mosque Shahidul was finally laid to rest at the Gardens of Peace Cemetary in Hainault, Essex.
