Original article. Speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv Kenny Dalglish told his post-match press conference at the Sports Direct Arena: "We started well enough, passed and moved and looked pretty threatening, but obviously it ended up with a lot of frustration and disappointment.
"I think the frustration and disappointment were a result of the actions Pepe took when he got a deserved red card, and also when Andy (Carroll) came off and went up the tunnel he was disappointed with the way the game's gone, not necessarily for himself but for the team. The frustration takes him up into the dressing room.
"We don't have a problem with people showing their disappointment or frustration, but we need to channel it better than we have done."
With Liverpool misfiring on the league front most of the fierce criticism has been directed towards the man at the helm.
It is interesting to note the levels of loyalty Dalglish inspires amongst Liverpool's global fan base.
There's the majority of the older generation who remember Kenny's heroic playing exploits alongside the greatest players to have worn the red rouge ofLiverpool. These fans have mostly backed Kenny to the hilt and continue to place their trust in him to lead from the front.
The younger fans have no such ties and have no qualms in calling for the exit door ti be shown. The sceptics point out that Dalglish is from a bygone era and unwilling to adapt to the demands of the modern game.
They conveniently forget his managerial achievements, citing an incredible inherited team for 1986, 88, 89 etc and Jack Walker's millions buying the Premiership. Flimsy arguments indeed.
With such a chasm between Liverpool and their rivals it will be noted that a top four finish for this season was a tad too ambitious.
Fenway Sports Group will consider the sentiments of the fans when they plan the next installment of their rebuilding plan for Liverpool. More money is needed and I fully believe that the much maligned Jordan Henderson will go onto become an outstanding midfielder for both club and country.
The new signings have to take their share of the blame after contributing a measly six goals between them this campaign. If funds are tight then Raheem Sterling must be given a chance to stake a claim for the third striker's role.
Kenny won't walk and FSG won't want to make rash decisions to replace him and thus start another lengthy rebuilding process. It's about continuity and support.
The gaffer was spot on about discipline - draws, penalty misses and fluffed chances by millionaires. It's what has cost Liverpool points all season. As Kenny has stated, it's time to stick together if this "crisis" is to be dealt with.
The League Cup has been won and there is a semi-final date with Everton. Win that and the tide will rapidly change. Win the FA Cup and Kenny along with Steve Clarke and Kevin Keen will be hailed football geniuses and the bootroom saviours of the club.
Liverpool FC like to give their managers time. This is a rebuilding process and a long term rather than a short term project. Even though the current run is the worst in 59 years, all it would take is a triumphant FA Cup run to change all that swiftly into the most successful season since 2001.
Striker Luis Suarez has also vowed to fight on to get the club moving back in the right direction.
Liverpool's poor league run actually stretches back to the turn of the year, since when they have collected just eight points in 12 games.
Suarez is determined to battle on. He tweeted: "Difficult moments after the last matches. We must continue to work until the end! YNWA."
Kenny is Liverpool's greatest player. His exploits are pure Roy of the Rovers and though he may rile the media, opposing fans and the sporting establishment he bleeds Liverpool. Nobody understands the club better and it is vital that he is backed to the hilt.
Its like backing a family member, you frown, squirm argue on the roller coaster but you don't give up your support. But there is no way as a fan I’m criticising Dalglish.
As far as I’m concerned he can do no wrong on a football l level and I’m afraid that’s just the way it is. I’m backing Kenny and the boys come rain or shine. I advise all you fellow Reds to do the same.
