London’s football carnival

Safer Neighbourhood Tournament 2012

It’s time, the carnival is here
Embracing Newark and the Tigers roar
Modest beginnings to a whopping tenth year
Soul will rock glitzy London to the core

Milano and Stepney add intrigue
Footy bonanza at the marshes of Hackney
Spiritual home of the Sunday League
With an Olympic Stadium backdrop for all to see

It’s all fun so keep those chins up
Royal entrance from the community Shield
Veterans vie for the Jim Fitzpatrick Cup
With much merry and banter on the field

Here come the girls with the Women’s federation
Kick it Out support the SNT crown
Man of the match will rouse contemplation
A quiet moment for the late Kelvin Brown

The Safer Neighbourhood tournament is in it's tenth year. It's a brilliant initiative by my friend Councillor Abdal Ullah. The venue this year is Hackney Marshes on 5th May.

Do pop along. You can also take a picture with the Olympic torch, community shield and the NPower championship trophy. I have also contributed the above to the official SNT programme.
