Half term fun at Canary Wharf Ice Rink

This weeks reader recommendation for half term is a trip to the canary Wharf Ice Rink.

We sent Emdad along for a try out. Unfortunately he and his coach (pictured) were not good enough to make the cut for the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Eager skaters will be delighted to know that the season has been extended for February half term. Now open until 23 February, everyone from school kids to busy parents and those who haven’t had a chance to make it to the rink yet, can still make the most of the opportunity to skate over the school break.

The outdoor ice rink features London's first ever skate path. There is an onsite restaurant and a viewing terrace for non-skaters.

Over 353 participated in the rinks recent world record attempt at the longest conga on ice. The conga line included the London Bulldogs hockey team and Ashley Banjo's Ruff Diamond dance troupe. Pudsey Bear led the chain which was cheered on by celebrity guests such as Richard Blackwood.

Canary Wharf rink is open every day during half term.

At weekends and Bank Holidays you can enjoy three hours of free parking in Canary Wharf when you spend £10 at the ice rink, or in any of the shops, cafes, and restaurants. Canary Wharf station is on the Jubilee Line and is a 2 minute walk from the rink.
