Royal Wedding street party on Royal Mint estate

More than 300 Wapping and Shadwell residents rocked up to the John Fisher Street party to enjoy an east end knees-up, in celebration of the Royal Wedding on Friday 29 April.

Shanoor Miah, 35 who lives on John Fisher Street attended the party said:
“It’s exciting! All the neighbourhoods are getting to know each other and it's a great atmosphere. It feels like we’re part of the Wedding - a really good effort!”

During the day locals from the John Fisher and Royal Mint housing estates watched the live showing of the Royal Wedding on a big screen, ate regal refreshments and indulged in slices of wedding cake to complete the treat.

The free family fun day was organised by SocietyLinks – a local community group based in Wapping which provides free support for people looking for work , training courses, youth club with free activities, and coffee mornings for the over 50s.
