Khalid Hussain, a 2nd generation British Bangladeshi photographer from the East London has been appointed as the official photographer for BARC UK the largest NGO in the world based in Bangladesh.
He owns locally based photography company ‘Photogenic Studio’ focusing on event photography ranging from large corporate and political events to small intimate family ones.
After an initial set up period, Khalid has now successfully established ‘Photogenic Studio’ as an established event photography company synonymous with; quality, integrity and passion for capturing the essence of special moments.
Khalid is now planning to expand into international development in response to a need by clients for British-Asian photographers who understand the local context of countries such as Bangladesh. Khalid has recently been appointed as an official photographer for BRAC UK (the UK charity arm of BRAC which is the largest NGO in the world, based in Bangladesh).
As part of this, he is due to fly out to Bangladesh in January 2012, where he will be participating in celebrations of BRAC’s 40th anniversary and also documenting progress on Vision Bangladesh – a joint project between BRAC and Sightsavers to eradicate cataract blindness in Sylhet.
Khalid says: “I can promote through photography the amazing progress Bangladesh – and BRAC –have made in eradicating poverty and improving the lives of millions of poor people.”
On his return Khalid will hold a photographic exhibition for the public to view and celebrate the country’s achievements and highlight future challenges.
