The Corona Chronicles - Darul Ummah during Covid-19

Whilst everyone has been busy serving their respective communities one institution hasn’t escaped my attention at all.

Despite their best efforts to work away like busy beavers in the background I need to make a point of mentioning the fantastic work of this truly grassroots team so it serves as a lesson to us all on how to stay grounded whilst engaging in brilliant work.

They have been serving hot and cold foods, making calls, and delivering items to homes on behalf of other partner organisations. They have used their volunteees to make a tremendous impact during the Coronavirus pandemic.

I have witnessed the crew at Darul Ummah deliver the most fantastic community projects and outreach programmes for three decades.

I have seen many current community leaders who took part in the organisations activities - delivered and led by humble individuals who’s only ambition was to safeguard, develop and preserve their communities though their outreach.

They weren’t eloquent or charismatic but they were sincere. Darul Ummah, which means House of the Community is their legacy and today is at the centre of all things good in the locality and beyond.

I’m really proud of them. Well done to Khoyrul Shaheed and the team.
