The Corona Chronicles - Wordsearch Nerds!

I started fasting today at 3 am with four bloomer cheeses toastier, chicken sausages, turkey rashers and yoghurt. This is opposed to my usual Weetabix with yoghurt and a glass of water.

I struggled to really sleep after Fajr and my throat was dry until I woke up at 8am. I enjoyed gorging this once but have felt the effects. I’m definitely going back to basics from tomorrow morning.

I’ve also felt hungrier with stomach rumblings throughout the day, but not thirsty.

You’d think all the extra calories would fuel me for my cycle deliveries and Ramadan challenge but that certainly wasn’t the case.

Strange indeed!

I had two drops today. One rather large food pack after a referral from a local Community Mental Health nurse. It was straightforward and the recipient indirectly taught me two valuable lessons  From chatting to him in general I realised that food heals rifts, and has a hugely positive impact on an individuals wellbeing and general state of mind.

Also today I recruited someone to the cult. Josephine is in her 70’s and is now officially a Wordsearch Nerd thanks to #bookbikelondon - I have gone dark and am truly revelling in corrupting all these cute and cuddly older folk.

Saturday promises to be another belter for the Hedgecock Community Centre Foodbank. We have supported locals until they’ve become independent and that is a huge achievement.

We have however gained more numbers. Our brilliant volunteers have tremendous rapport with recipients whilst maintaining boundaries and this is our strength.
