The Corona Chronicles - The frontliners

Spent time with Abraham today and  observed him deliver a masterclass on how to deal with patients. and visitors.

At A&E only the patient is allowed in irrelevant if how ill or vulnerable they are. Many patients had adults with them who simply couldn’t accompany them.

Abraham’s cool head and his natural engagement ensured that agitated patients and carers not only stayed calm but accepted his instructions with no commotion.

Abraham is from Ghana and we bonded instantly after I told him about my visit to Accra and Tamale and how I couldn’t wait to go back again.

In fact all frontline staff, Porters, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors were outstanding. My only gripe is I observed two middle managers come out for their ciggie breaks and their conduct and interaction with staff, patients, carers was woeful. My take on this is thank God they’re not frontline because they were a let down.

‪His affable and welcome manner was simply brilliant and I learnt so much from his interaction in just one morning.

‪What a fantastic asset he is. It’s people like the vastly unsung and underrated Abraham who are also a huge part of the magic of the NHS 🙂

Homeless friends: They’re scared, they’re on the streets, they’re stuck in isolation.

They’re going hungry because their normal sources of foods at food banks and soup kitchens have ceased.

The Royal Catering & Events and the Hedgecock Community Centre Foodbank team are working in partnership to ensure that those who are struggling are receiving decent and hot meals.

Today we had two foodpack drops and a very energetic and high paced cycle.
