The Corona Chronicles - Making health and nutrition a priority!

It’s not all about rich and often unhealthy foods with many homeless friends often lacking the greens when it comes to their daily nourishment.

One Third Soup Kitchen will be serving homeless friends with fruit, salad, humous, couscous and even flowers thanks to this bumper crop made available by Humdum Foodbank!

Hopefully this isn’t a one off as I’m planning to try work on more healthy menus in the future. The stumbling block is cost as wholesome meals are never cheap but if the intention is there the doors will open.

I carried out a second visit to Ryedale Court today and I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen. There’s plenty security and the staff are always very friendly and courteous. The relationship between the staff and residents is real and those who know me will testify I am hot on these observances as it says a lot about an organisation and how effective the service is.

Redbridge Council has helped house more than 80 rough sleepers and were able to set up a special facility for rough sleepers at the Ryedale Care Centre, Barking & Dagenham, which is staffed on 24-hours, seven days a week. This has enabled many rough sleepers to isolate safely during the Coronavirus pandemic.

‪Thanks to the support of organisations like Crisis, Only a Pavement Away and Humdum Uk I’m able to explore my passion of really getting stuck into grassroots efforts, to explore issues affecting homelessness and working with partners on the ground to provide relief.‬
